By Sophia Rodrigues

It's a first from the Reserve Bank of Australia.

Governor Philip Lowe will deliver a speech on Thursday live, and will take questions from media and market economists via conference call. The RBA will not give the speech prior to some news outlets as embargo,

The speech time is at 1600 hours Sydney time.

The RBA is widely expected to deliver a cash rate cut to 0.25% on Thursday and make an announcement on Quantitative Easing via government bond purchases.

Earlier Monday, the RBA announced it stands ready to buy government bonds in the secondary market. It might already be in the market to buy government bonds using a tool that is part of its regular market operations but being done now to support the smooth functioning of the market. This is not the same as QE.
